Ileosigmoid Anastomosis
Description
During the project, I observed an ileosigmoid anastomosis surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, meticulously documenting each step of the procedure. By consulting a variety of surgical atlases alongside my observation notes, I developed a comprehensive, step-by-step inked walkthrough intended for publication. A key focus of the project was to clarify the operation of the linear cutter used in this side-by-side anastomosis, which is crucial for enhancing student comprehension of the tools involved and their application in subsequent steps. This iterative process aimed to provide both clarity and emphasise the technical intricacies of the procedure.

Production
The production process involved numerous iterations and extensive consultations with surgical atlases and content experts to ensure accuracy and relevance. Each stage of development was meticulously crafted and reviewed, leading to refinements that enhanced the final product. Visuals and textual content were adjusted based on expert feedback, allowing for a comprehensive understanding of complex procedures. This iterative process is evident in the accompanying visual (left), which reflects the careful consideration given to anatomical details and procedural clarity throughout the development phase.
